Christine Lee in Politics

Your Opinion Counts!

worktogether.jpgThis website highlights Christine Lee's campaign to encourage the Chinese community to get interested and involved in politics. How the country is governed and which laws are passed affect all of us that live, work and study in the UK.

Through this site we aim to make the government aware of the Chinese community's needs so that we too can be considered and, better still, be part of the decision making process.

Takeaway Chefs Wanted - "No Skills Required"

The recent changes in immigration rules is the most radical in 40 years and has widespread implications for ethnic businesses in the UK. With the classification of Chinese Takeaways to a level on par with Fish & Chip shops, tens of thousands of takeaway businesses face labour shortages and imminent loss of business as they are no longer eligible to recruit skilled chefs from abroad.

Christine Lee is currently campaigning for the government to acknowledge and understand that chefs in takeaways are in no way less skilled than for example a Second or Third Chef working in a restaurant. A less diverse menu does not mean less skill is required to cook the dishes. Permitting trained chefs from abroad to work in takeaways will not only preserve standards but maintain the livelihoods of thousands of families within the UK.
